I’ve just read a great article by Scott Myers (“Going into the Story”) which made me realize how profoundly engrained our biases as storytellers can be. Indeed, I myself as a writer, have been guilty of describing female protagonists as “beautiful” or something to that effect – in addition to be strong and well-rounded of course. My bad… I guess regardless of our gender as moviegoers, we are unconsciously inspired by the alluring femmes fatales populating the big screen and memories of movie stars such as Ingrid Bergman or Romy Schneider and their haunting beauty. So yes, point taken, Mr. Scott Myers, most of us  can do much better when we introduce women in our narratives…
